Conversion of Oil Palm By-Products into Value-Added Products through Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) Cultivation

چکیده
The oyster mushroom (Pleurotus species) is a popular and widely cultivated edible that can be found worldwide, including in Malaysia. However, its local production unable to fulfil the market demand, partly due limited availability of rubber wood sawdust (RWS) as conventional cultivation substrate. Furthermore, palm oil industry Malaysia generates large volumes organic by-products have caused environmental concerns. Therefore, potential utilisation waste-based substrates order develop substitute RWS for Pleurotus ostreatus evaluated this study, based on their agronomic performance nutritional properties. Empty fruit bunches (EFBs), fronds (OPFs), trunks (OPTs) were used formulate substrates. control was 100% RWS. Generally, EFB showed better performance, growth 1.9 times faster compared control, with comparable yield. crude protein beta glucan content mushrooms grown by-product-formulated significantly higher than those using control. Additionally, number fruiting bodies, protein, positively correlated potassium could P. ostreatus.

DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW COTTON WASTE COMPOSTING TECHNOLOGY FOR CULTIVATION OF OYSTER MUSHROOM (Pleurotus ostreatus)
This applicable research has successful selected enzyme Ctec2 from Novozyme (Denmark) which gave the best cellulose degradation activity compared to the other enzymes. At optimum conditions of 50 o C, pH=5 and ratio between enzyme and substrate (E/S) being 0.40%, 0.45%, 0.50%, the time needed to substrate degrade was 60 hours. Based on this finding, a new cotton waste composting technology for ...

Effects of Pure and Mixed substrates on nutritional composition, minerals and growth of Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) were studied in present study. Results of the study revealed that the total protein content, ash, crude fiber and crude fat were higher in the mushroom harvested from mixed substrate (23.64, 8.17, 0.90 and 2.93%nrespectively) than that of the pure substrates (21.02, 3.40...
متن کاملOstreolysin enhances fruiting initiation in the oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus).
Fruiting initiation in mushrooms can be triggered by a variety of environmental and biochemical stimuli, including substances of natural or synthetic origin. In this work ostreolysin, a cytolytic protein specifically expressed during the formation of primordia and fruit bodies of Pleurotus ostreatus, was applied to nutrient media inoculated with mycelium of P. ostreatus, and its effects on myce...

The edible mushroom Pleurotus ostreatus has been studied as a potential crop to reduce agricultural solid wastes and increase mushroom production. P. ostreatus cultivated on various agricultural wastes singly i.e. rice straw (RS), rice husk (RH) wheat straw (WH), barley straw (BS), and cotton wastes (CW). The biological efficiency (B.E) was 25.61, 9.51, 22.6, 21.628 and 25.78 % while rounding u...
